ABOUT | Ocean Life

One of the great things about painting sea and other creatures is that they're the perfect subjects to blur the line between reality and fiction so they are wildly appropriate for artistic interpretation.

Over the years, I've painted several 'Krackens' and 'Dragons.' These always bring me to a place of childlike wonder because they give you such freedom to imagine and suppose and then create.

In recent years, I've really enjoyed walking the line between creating works in this series that are fun, bold and imaginative, but that still show a reverence and depth. I am a strong believe that art doesn't have to be stodgy or boring, but it helps when it's made with a high degree of conviction, concentration and a bias towards high quality materials and outcomes.
